US Layoffs — June 2011

Top States by Workers Affected

New York led the nation with 3,906 workers affected across 80 notices , followed by California (3,295 workers) and Texas (1,461 workers) .

Industry Breakdown

The Manufacturing sector accounted for the largest share of job cuts with 5,666 workers across 74 notices. At the same time, Healthcare reported 2,896 workers.

Layoff Type Analysis

Closures accounted for 33% of all affected workers nationally, with the majority of events being layoffs rather than full closures.

Leading the list was Huron Hospital in East Cleveland, Ohio, reporting 915 affected workers. St Vincent Catholic Medical Centers of New York - St. Elizabeth Ann's Health Care & Rehabilitation Center followed with 553 workers.
