A company does not tell its whole story in one filing. You may find a workforce notice in one place, a corporate disclosure in another, and broader labor data somewhere else. LaborCurrent gives you several ways to bring those records into your research routine. Let’s build a simple process: start with an employer, add context, then decide how to keep track of relevant changes. Start with a question, not a score. What has this employer filed, in which places, and over what period?
Look at the notice rows and dates before forming a conclusion. For a workforce team, the practical question may be where services could be needed. For a recruiting product, it may be which employer events are relevant to a market. The records describe events; they do not identify individual workers for you. Now add another source where it is relevant. SEC filings can provide corporate context, and bankruptcy records can add another part of the timeline.
Check the employer match and each source date. The useful result is a documented sequence you can investigate. It is not a guarantee that one event caused another, or a prediction of what the company will do next. Keep observation and interpretation separate in your notes. If this is a recurring question, look at alerts. The page separates layoff notices, SEC alerts, a blog digest and reports.
Choose the stream that matches your task, then review the available filters and delivery description. A focused set of relevant updates is more useful than a large inbox you never read. For this walkthrough, we are showing where setup begins; your confirmation and delivery settings belong to your own account. You do not have to use every product. A dataset download suits a defined offline analysis. An API suits a workflow you run repeatedly.
A report is a different deliverable when you want a written briefing rather than raw rows. The store distinguishes a one-time snapshot from a refresh subscription, and reports are offered separately from API plans. Read those boundaries before deciding which purchase, if any, serves your work. Make the routine easy to repeat. Record the employer, the period you checked, the sources you used and the question that still needs an answer. Then choose the lightest way to stay informed.
Start by researching one employer you follow already. If the records are useful, explore the relevant alert or delivery option. The value is a clearer, repeatable research process grounded in public filings, with your judgment still in control.
Filed 60+ Days Ahead
Federal WARN generally requires notice 60 days before a layoff takes effect (90 in some states); late filings and statutory exceptions exist, and the notice-period screen shows them. Cross-referenced with SEC 8-K and bankruptcy filings for the same company.
5 Proprietary Indexes
WVI, WSI, TDI, MCS, IDI — computed daily from 6 datasets. Sector cascades, metro contagion, workforce stress.

Understand workforce exposure behind the headlines.
LaborCurrent includes DOL Labor Condition Application (LCA) records and USCIS H-1B petition decisions alongside WARN notices and SEC filings. These federal datasets document employer-level sponsorship activity, wage benchmarks and work locations — starting points for research into workforce composition and post-layoff patterns.
LCA fields (DOL Labor Condition Applications)
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
employer_name | Employer as filed with DOL |
job_title / soc_title | Role and DOL occupation code title |
wage_from / wage_to | Offered wage range |
prevailing_wage / pw_wage_level | DOL benchmark wage, level I–IV |
worksite_city / worksite_state | Work location as certified |
total_workers | Positions in this single filing |
case_status | Certified / Denied / Withdrawn |
fiscal_year | DOL reporting period |
decision_date | When DOL acted on the application |
Three starting questions for diligence
These are research starting points, not investment recommendations or predictions.
- Where does an employer show sustained sponsorship activity? Which fiscal years had material LCA volume, and did that activity concentrate in specific SOC codes or locations?
- Which roles and locations recur? Do the worksite cities, wage levels and occupation codes align with stated R&D or operational priorities over time?
- How does that historical activity compare with disclosed workforce changes? Do LCA filing counts shift in the quarters surrounding WARN notices or SEC Item 2.05 restructuring disclosures? LaborCurrent shows the timeline; interpretation is yours.
